As a social researcher, I strive to harmoniously combine research activity with public engagement. For many years I have been involved in the implementation of projects aimed at both learning about the mechanisms of social change and implementing the expected changes. Social theories that shape my imagination and inspire research are: new institutionalism, the concept of social capital, concepts of social cohesion and solidarity, as well as sociological theories of space. These theories support my research in the field of social economy, revitalization, and recently social housing with the most excluded people in mind.

Recently, I have been involved in efforts to end homelessness on three levels. The basic is the local level. I work for an organization that transforms traditional forms of solidarity and support (shelter) into alternative forms (assisted housing). I research the biographies of homeless people and the attitudes of experts. I am the spokesperson of the organization towards local and regional authorities. The second level is the regional. I participate in program work for innovative solving of social problems, thanks to the social economy. Third level – nationwide. I am a participant in the work of a group of specialists for the de-institutionalization of public services in the field of homelessness. The above-mentioned theoretical concepts and practical activities are an important impulse to take up the topic of homelessness and solidarity in European cities after the pandemic.

I have devoted a few recent publications to the exploratory walks method. It is a type of research conducted on the move with the participation of broadly understood experts (homeless people are also experts). This method combines cognitive and practical functions.

In 2020, I became the coordinator of the international project „Social Education on the Move” (SoMovED) with the participation of 11 partners, including 8 universities. The project is financed by the Erasmus Plus program. The project is of an educational and research nature. Its goal is to develop and implement a mobile model of social education in higher education.

The SoMovED project envisages a series of interdisciplinary studies, seminars and international conferences. Several books with research participation from all over Europe are planned to be published.
