Career path

In the years 1990-1995 I studied Cultural Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Since September 1995 I have been employed as an assistant at the Department of General Sociology at the Institute of Sociology (until 2001 within the structures of the Higher School of Pedagogy, since 2001 within the structures of the University of Zielona Góra). In 2004 I obtained a doctorate in humanities in the field of sociology - the doctoral dissertation and defense took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wrocław.

In 2014 I obtained the title of habilitated doctor in the field of social sciences in the discipline of sociology, specializing in the sociology of culture; by decision of the Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław of 04.04. 2014 based on the monograph Mature, fulfilled, independent...? Women 50+ in a sociological mirror.

I have been associated with the Institute of Sociology since the beginning of my professional career, i.e. since 1995 (until 2001 within the structures of the Higher School of Pedagogy, since 2001 within the structures of the University of Zielona Góra).

In the years 2008-2012 I was the deputy director of the Institute of Sociology of the University of Zielona Góra, in the years 2016-2019 - the director of the Institute of Sociology. Since May 2015 I have been employed as a professor at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Zielona Góra (Youth Research Workshop).

Since 2018 I have been on the board of the Section of Sociology of Youth and Education of the Polish Sociological Association.

In 2018 I received the Medal of the National Education Commission. During my professional career I have also received numerous Rector's Awards: team, individual, both in the category of scientific and organizational achievements.

My research interests focus on the issues of:

  • lifestyles,
  • phenomena occurring on the Polish-German border,
  • socio-cultural consequences of ageing societies,
  • problems of sociology of youth,
  • issues from the scope of gender studies.

Selected research projects:

In 2009-2011 participation as a team member in the work within the project co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the supervision of Dr. Krzysztof Lisowski - Processes of cultural diffusion and social mobility - continuation (grant no.
