Education

Sociological studies

BA studies  in sociology

Sociology is the study of how people connect and divide. It describes how various social collectivities, such as groups, nations or organizations such as political parties, function and how they change. It also tries to answer the question why they act the way they do, i.e. it tries to explain social phenomena and processes

In order to describe and explain social reality, sociologists use specific research methods. The most famous is the poll. It is a method that allows you to gather information about facts, assessments and opinions of the entire population (e.g. residents of Poland) through a much smaller, but particularly selected research sample (e.g. 1000 people). An important part of the research methods of sociology are those that we define as qualitative. These are, for example, various types of interviews, the participants of which have considerable freedom in formulating their statements, and even topics they want to talk about and which are part of their lives.

Information collected in this way, i.e. data, is used to change the world around us, e.g. to better meet the needs of residents of various communities, improve their quality of life, improve the efficiency of organizations, including workplaces, increase customer interest in a given product.

Sociology allows us to better understand our surroundings and the place we occupy in it, to develop ourselves by shaping our identity.
