The social analytics and esports laboratory was established on the initiative of Justyna Nyćkowiak and Tomasz Kołodziej as a result of cooperation in the field of research on various phenomena of a political and economic nature, as well as on esports. The need to establish the Laboratory results from the belief that education in the field of Sociology should provide knowledge and tools necessary to understand phenomena, forecast changes and facilitate decision-making. Thus, we understand sociology as a very practical science. That is why we have expanded the educational offer for first-cycle students of Sociology with the possibility of choosing the specialty "Social dimensions of esports". Esports is one of the fastest growing activities and a phenomenon worth studying from a sociological perspective. As part of the  Laboratory, projects related to esports as a social phenomenon are implemented, including e.g. effectiveness of esports teams. Students who choose the "Social dimensions of esports" specialization have the opportunity to participate in projects implemented as part of the studio and receive substantive support in writing diploma theses related to esports.
