The Laboratory was established on October 1, 2022, as a result of many years of cooperation between the two researchers who create it -. Izabela Kaźmierczak-Kałużna and Magdalena Pokrzyńska.
Giving a formal framework to the existing cooperation is to emphasize the synergy in the activities undertaken so far and ensure their efficient continuation, while being open to individual initiatives and implemented projects.
The establishment of the Laboratory was informally inaugurated by the author's course, I will tell you a story, lasting from March to June 2022... Documentation of social memory in practice: Memoirs for seniors, organized and conducted by I. Kaźmierczak-Kałużna, PhD and M. Pokrzyńska, PhD. The course made it possible to combine common interests in qualitative research methods with the issues of social memory and elements of the sociology of old age. It was conducted in the Open University formula, in cooperation with the University of the Third Age in Zielona Góra and the Library of Culture in Iłowa. The result of four-month meetings with the participants of the classes are their written or recorded autobiographical stories.
Both the issues and the open formula of the course illustrate the basic assumptions of the newly created Laboratory, which is to be a platform that allows for the integration of the (not always common) interests of both researchers and the implementation of new projects, for which the theoretical and research background will be widely understood social microstructures and related to them issues of social identity, social memory, heritage and tradition, family, social problems, social exclusion, old age, etc.
Our intention is to implement ideas that involve not only researchers, but also Researchers (participants of these projects) and the associated going beyond the walls of the University.
